As promised I am rolling out my program “Living a Well-Integrated Life™” (A-W-I-L)™ over the
next few weeks. This is a program I created and I practice to achieve the goal of Inner Peace
every day.
I will be addressing each of the 5 categories one at a time. The 5 categories are:
1. Spiritual
2. Mental/Emotional
3. Physical
4. Financial
5. Relationships
Today I am taking on Spiritual.
Spirit is the central belief system upon which our lives are based.
I will begin by saying the 5 categories in the program are interconnected and cannot be fully
separated as they all influence other categories. I prefer to describe their relationship as a
graphic. When I visualize the concept of A-W-I-L™, it has an order of sorts. Here is the graphic
I have designed to describe the relationship among the categories.
I believe this more clearly describes the relationship of the categories than a list. By design hegraphic becomes a “peace sign” as that is the ultimate goal of AWIL, Inner Peace.
My personal belief system comes from “A Course In Miracles” (A-C-I-M). I have been studying
A-C-I-M for the past 2 years and have discovered it speaks to me in a way no religion or other
philosophical belief system does.
A-C-I-M is not a religion but it came through Jesus (yes, the one we all know from Christianity).
I mean no disrespect when I say it this way, but I think whether you’re a Christian, Muslim,
Atheist, Hindu, Jew or any other religious or non-religious belief system we can all agree He
(Jesus) lived 2000ish years ago.
When I began to study the text and principles of A-C-I-M, it made great sense to me. It was
like I kept thinking “that’s what I have always thought, but it seemed like blasphemy. It was as if I
were born knowing the principles despite whatever “religious” education I had.
This is the CORE of A-W-I-L.™ I believe we all are here for a unique purpose. I also believe we
are all ONE Divine entity. A-C-I-M teaches this Divine unified entity is what most religions call
GOD.
With that understanding A-C-I-M teaches that our mind (ego) is what separates us from
DIVINITY and SEPARATION is the original sin.
Here’s how I apply that in my life now. I see everything as happening FOR me not TO me. If I
see external forces an “in control” of my life, I am alone and separate. I see myself as in control
and spend much of my time and energy trying to UN-DO, CORRECT and AVOID mistakes.
This has changed. Although at my age, my knee-jerk, immediate reaction is the old CORRECT
and CONTROL.
Now…my awareness allows me to PAUSE and breathe when I’m triggered this way. I am
amazed by how much I notice in my body and mind happening as I react to the trigger.
Once I PAUSE, I feel the reverberations of stress starting in my gut and racing into my brain
with thoughts and plans and fears and usually a “worst case scenario” threat. When I’m
pausing that still happens.
Now I take steps that help me out of anxiety. First I hand it over. I surrender.
I hand it over to a higher power and I get it off my plate. I ACCEPT whatever it is.
It helps to practice with little things. It’s like lifting light weights first to build strength for heavier
weights.
This is what miracles are.
Once I tried this and saw how miraculous the results were, especially with the little things, it
changed me.
I believe this can help everyone. I studied many practitioners and healers that contributed to
my method.
For today, A-C-I-M is the belief system that is the center of A-W-I-L™ and the piece I describe
as SPIRITUAL.
I have gone to Church for 75 years, Im 83. Have never felt I am in tune with others within my church. I believe but not sure of what. I struggle
Jennifer,
This is exactly what I needed TODAY.
Thank you.
